Me respons:
As a ballpark for the kindof weight tradeoffs, you're looking at around 50g-100g for a small generator, and another 100g max for electronics (low rated 3 phase rectifier and a voltage regulator). Whats left is some kindof coupling system, probably friction or belt would be simplest and would come in under ~200g easily. I reckon we could do the whole thing in around 200g.
But lets take a bad case and say its 600g. That in battery life is 6 cells, so 5Ah @ 6s. So lets say we make that trade. Flight time between takeoff and search area is 30min.
To generate 5Ah across 30min would be a 10A load on the generator, which can be done with a tiny 30A motor and esc. That would cover all the battery power given up to maintain the same weight across the first leg of the flight. There's two legs.
