It's not actually quite dry, there's always water on the bottom but the inlet pipe doesn't quite reach
I have a submersible pump I can use to fill buckets with

I thought I was clever and tried to hook the hose into my hydrant outlet to feed water back in, but the hydrant doesn't seem to open unless there's pressure on the inside
so tomorrow, either jerryrig something with that or take the hose inside to the washing machine outlet, that should work at least

alright so from wednesday night to saturday night I've already used one barrel of water, or 200 liters

I didn't realise I use that much, I will need to refill them every week at this pace

it's been raining but who knows how long it will take for it to seep into the ground water

backstory, since you asked

my first idea was to buy an ibc container, which as you all well know is 1000 liters
buuut I would've had to keep it outside since it wouldn't even fit through the front door
and I would've had to pour its water into the well, which would have flushed all the dirt from the walls and resulted in fairly disgusting water
so, I got some barrels instead which fit inside the house and won't freeze if this drought continues into the winter
I guess the downside is that I only got 400 liters worth of storage, but I think the upsides are worth the trouble

also four barrels only cost 30 eurobux total, which wasn't bad, similar price for one ibc
they had AdBlue in them previously, which as you know is urea
buuut it's not like I was drinking the well water either so it's fine

some more backstory for our american friends

200 liters is approximately 52.8344105 US gallons
and an ibc container, or 1000 liters is roughly 264.172052 US gallons, or about 33814.0227 US fluid ounces

why they measure soft drinks in fluid ounces I will never know, not that it's related in any way
